how about web development using other tools or programming languages or softwares and not just PHP script? do you consider them web developers?

programming languages? as long as their purpose is for the web then they can be considered... regards to tools.. tools as they are named... are used to make development much more faster and efficient... It doesn't mean that if you know many web development tools you are also good at web development.... tools are no use if you don't know the core of web development.. the right logic and analytic thinking.... also regards to programming languages you may know many languages... but if you don't know how to put them together in perfect harmony then they become useless

Web development incorporates all areas of creating a Web site for the World Wide Web. Rate myself hmmmm I'm average to the lowest level but improving everyday **beware** hehe.

very well explained... and i agree...
web development umbrella is quite large which covers many fields... (SEO, Programmers, Designers, Etc.)
Do you think we should focus on just one field?
Would it be harder having two or three fields?

hahahaha nice one dude.. how do I rate myself...
hmmm that's hard... coz I just learn new things everyday... Basically I only improve because of new project requirements and needs of my clients and around work which if new gets me excited then research on it more... so I think I'm just a baby in programming that needs more milk... I'm a pure developer... I lack designing stuff and sucks with color harmony...so I just focus on what I am good at then try to improve it ....

Guys on the web development here are some tips:
Steps on solving a web development program:
When your program and code are not working in PHP:
1. Always backup before you alter anything.
2. Look for the termination such the comma,apostrophe', double quote and parenthesis if both ends has it.
3. check the phpinfo() to compare the compatibility of the code or function to the version of what is installed to the system.
4. Google, google, google. and see if someone had been in the same situation as you, maybe you can find a thread that is posted on some forum which has the solution.
5. Double check your function and use of the code: sample is that you can never include a file through http in PHP, am i right.
6. Never ever always complain without looking for the solution yourself, do all the steps and solution that you can do before bothering your senior programmer. walking from the senior programmer's table is time consuming and also you can affect other person concentration on what he/she is focused.
7. Always look for a work around. be resourceful.
8. Relax but not loiter.
9. If there is a functionality that the server lacks and you need them to be installed ask your administrator politely to install it. But not all requested functionality can be installed at an instant. Because installation of additional functions means downtime to the server and downtime means a monetary loss to the client. And your administrator will still advise you to look for a workaround.
10. Do not alter whatever is currently working. Always test and double check your improvement on the Development Server not on a production.
11. Logs, logs, logs.....error logs are always there just request it politely from your administrator.
12. Coordinate with the SEO as both of you are altering the codes.
Frankly i cannot code a complex php program, my Supervisor friend can, All these are my observation experience.

My apology if started this, to gurlalien and others thanks, first i want to comment on this thread, this thread this is a "Self Glorification Thread" thus saying we are this number on our ability is an evidence,does letting this to continue can help our fellow developers?
What i meant on my reply is not to forget people who have your back, who are the one that maintain and troubleshoot your precious creation, and a reminder to always take a further step from where we are now, and don't stagnate onto it...IT life is fluid, it changes from time to time...just don't let yourself behind..
I am not better than you as I cannot gauge myself into numbers because everyday i a new day, new learning and New Adventure...
